Spoils of war

Let's burn some cash!

My dreams! My shallow, material dreams!

Granado Espada Visual Chronicle

At last! It belongs to me! Well, thanks to my lovely country unholy mail service, it's not physically mine yet, but it should be, until january.

For those of you people who still have a life noobs who don't know, a Visual Chronicle is basically a concept art book. These are the first ideas for characters, monsters, bosses and maps of the game before they went into the marvellous 3D machine and became an actual game.

I've always loved the looks GE has, as i've mentioned in my last year's review of the game. As you all know i have my shallow plastic side which simply cannot play a game unless it looks good and has pretty dresses I can fondle. (God that sounds so wrong). And I love drawing, if you wnat evidence, check my deviantart page. I acknowledged the existance of this book has been about 2 years and I needed it. I just needed it. My favorite game, one of the best artwork ever and a huge opportunity to learn how to draw them accurately without staring at a screen. But there was a problem.

GE's Visual Chronicle is off-press, aka, it's not printed anymore. So those little tragic things cost from 80 to 100 dollars. God damit, that's like $200 in brazilian coins.

But then a lovely soul on eBay - DUH! Ofc it's eBay! What else?? - had put the book on sale... for $50 -.-"
Still off my budget.
He had opened the sale for offers [on ebay you have buy it now, bid auction and make offer for items options. Up to the seller's way] so I tried.

And he accepted my U$ 32 offer last week.

Hoorraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

A tiny rage on banks

May someone explain me why those fetid bastards are around everybody's necks when they don't need you,  but when YOU need THEM, they simply dissapear, never work the way you want them to, the bloody credit card never arrives?

Last month I opened a bank account for myself at last, and i had to pretty much beg them PLEASE LET ME PUT MONEY IN YOUR BANK, PLEASE, LET ME HAVE A CREDIT CARD, PLEASE.

Yet they send you 10000x credit cards when you don't want or need them. Amazing.

I get it that it's near christmas time, but you don't tell a kid their stuff will arrive in 2 weeks and then take a month and a half to give ti to them, y'know? Baaaah.

Okay I'm done bankraging.

Pandora/Pugster/European Bracelet

Girly stuff.

There's this very clever bracelet, probably not new on the market, but surely new to me.

It comes in gold, silver, cotton or leather. Is a standart width bracelet withotu any charms on it.

You can then buy multiple charms in any color shape and theme you want to fill them. Like crafting a bracelet but one notch up in fancyness and jewelness.

My mother actually bought hers first, and at a certain point i couldn't help but finding it fun, and potentially good-looking if you choose the right stones and colors and such. She has travelled to the US with my brother and father (damn, me, i stayed, had finals and had to take care of my cockatiels. I should make a post about my cockatiels sometime, altough it woudl be completely unrelated to the blog theme. Do you want me to ramble about my birds? Please answer in the comments!)

Well mom bought me the bracelet alone with one pendant only. The bracelet is the only problem to buy on ebay. We tried to buy one but the lock didn't open. We were not able to remove the beads on it to make my own bracelet. So she bought me an original Pandora (there are several brands which work, like Pugster and European. Of the 3 Pugster is the cheapest but also the hardest to find at stores).

The beads on eBay are cheap like hell. I recommend you search as 'european bracelet charm', 'pugster bracelet bead' or so on. You cna insert golden/silver on the research or glass for the colorful glass beads.

The prices vary from U$ 0.90 to U$ 50. All depends if u want originals or not. The originals will have ensured quality, but the underbrands are so accurate and well-crafted it's worth the risk. You're always under the possibility to have a not so good-looking one but if they don't match the picture you just do your eBay things and the seller will return your money.

It's a very customizable fun thing. In Brazil we have a jewel brand called Vivara with a Pandora-copy and they called it 'Life bracelet series'. Pretty much suggest you to have a lifestory souvenir hanging from your arm. It's a cool idea. They have everything-shaped beads. Not just Vivara, eBay too, of course. Pets, tourist locations, random objects, symbols, etc. It's also a nice gift if you manage to get a good cheap bracelet to match the beads.

Back to tactics...

Lugia Plush

Yeeeeeeeeeash pokemon was my childhood.

I was bored one day and decided to go browse the mother-of-shopping [eBay... I think eBay should start paying me really, I speak of them all the time and make reviews of stuff they sell all the time]. I decided to look for my favorite, childhood remark pokemon, Lugia.

He's cute, ain't it? Screaming 'TAKE ME HOME!! PLEEEASE.'

It's very cheap, just U$5, 2 dollars shipping. But i left it to buy later with a bigger purchase, so I acquired it with the Granado book. It's small, about 20 centimeters tops.

I loved Lugia since the first pokemon movie, so i just had to take him.

I think I'm done blabbign about my purchases for now.

Have some awesome Lugia artwork by the deviantartist EvilQueenie and enjoy your weekend!

Stay tuned! I will be posting regarding the GamersFirst -> T3Fun transfer of Sword 2 - Granado Espada still today!

About Noobs

"Gibe money please! Me is noob! I report you!"

Says the level 5 rookie that just got in the game.

Once a noob, always a noob.

When I say that people nag. "You're being mean". I'm not being mean sir, I am mean. Learn the bloody difference.

Talk about differences, there's a thick line, a real abyss, between newbies and plain noobs.

Yes, the word means about the same thing but you'll understand my point soon.

Newbie:

Ohai! I'm new in this game, can you give me some tips?

The newbie is simply a new player. He's the guy who will take a while to understand crap, btu once he does understand, for instance, a wizard won't wear metal armor, he won't go buy the metal armor, try to put on his wizard and then curse and send everything to hell because he can't equip it.
The newbie is here to have some fun in a new game. Usually has played other games before. He learns when being taught. He evolves at the normal speed of the game and maybe soon will be walking beside you as a good friend if you help him. Newbie simply means newcome, new, whatever.

Noob:

A noob is a vicious little creature who seems to have little or perhaps no skills to absorb any kind of knowledge. It's not sure wether he's an idiot because he's stubborn and thinks he knows everythign already, or if he's simply too dumb to learn anything. The newbie is an ignorant, but once you give him knowledge he will use it at his and everybody's sake to evolve. A noob will take the 5 personal messages (pm) you sent him about the quest, ask the exact questions to which you already answered, oftenly in very poor grammar (no matter which language he speaks) and re-ask those questions without paying any drop of attention to what you actually tell him.

He then later will do the opposite of what you told him to do, get screwed and blame you.
Then you'll call him a noob, as he surely is one, and he's going to cry and nag and tell everybody you're a scammer, liar, and try to report you to a game master.

You can dress a noob in the highest of all armors, in the best of all weapons, wings, costumes, accessories, rings, and he will still be a noob.

The noob will ask you for free equipment and money. All the time. Until the day he quits game or dies. But you honestly hope he dies.

A newbie can be a noob. But a noob can also be an old player with experience. The noob never learns from his experience.

Dress a noob with level 100 gear will make him die like he was a level 5. It doesn't matter if you paint the crap golden, it shall remain a piece of crap.

Noob isn't a state of mind. Noob is an adjective or subject.

The all-grown-up noob

Let's say somehow you manage to keep a noob thinking he's your friend. Despite every fail attempt to teach him something, you're a Dalai-Lama kind and were able to stand him for so long he's now a level 100 noob. Congratulations, and I'm sorry for you. You just made a bad, bad mistake.

Try to sell something.

Noob will pm you. He will offer you a ridiculous, abusively low price.
You'll naturally refuse. Maybe laugh at him. No, wait, you won't laugh at him, if you were patient enough to have him think he's your friend.
So he says "Oh comon maaan but your my bud! Can't ya gimmi a gud price? Or can ya lend me y'know imma pay ya baaack!"
So you'll try to get rid of him saying no a couple of times. He will seem to have given up.

About 30 minutes later he will message you again saying he found an item he can trade for your item. However such offered trade will be worst than his first price idea.

This will repeat a couple times in the next 24 hours or until you sell the item (to someone else, obviously).

Now if by then you still haven't blocked, killed him (Ingame. Always ingame. Not worth going to jail IRL for a noob. Trust me) or at least yelled at him with your mighty caps lock, then i must call you a noob too.

Noobs of a feather annoy toghether

Noobs are never alone. They always bring at least one more noob with him. So soon if you try to engage in a fail attempt to help a noob, you will end up with at least 2 noobs riding your back.

Usually you think things are bad enough with one of them, but when the rest of his team shows up you start realizing you were happy but unaware of it. The second-party noobs are worst than the main one.
It's possible, believe me.

The only way to get yourself rid of a flock of noobs is by eliminating all of them. If you block, kill or yell at one only, the others will gather against you and then you got yourself a pack of annoying raging noobs trying to revenge from you in the noobest, most annoying ways possible.

Is it right to abuse noobs?

Of coure it isn't and you know it, you bastardish prick.
It's not their fault they only have 2 braincells.
However sometimes the rage is so big you just gotta do it.

Most likely a noob will never realized you abused or scammed him in, for example, a trade. However if he does, expect him and his flock of noobs to come after you.
So choose wisely.

Avoid and elliminate noobs

When encountering a noob and realizing he is one, you only three safe options:

1. Kindly get rid of him, by answering 'I dont know' to whatever question he makes, "I can't, I'm busy', to whatever he asks help with and "I'm out of money/I'm poor" if he asks you for things. Last one is hard to prove if you walk around with shiny gears and, in Sword 2 case, for example, have a high family level.

2. Find your game's blocklist.

3. Ignore. If you got no blocklists or block buttons, pretend to be AFK, don't answer him ever again. He will eventually give up. All you need to do is not reply.

Whatever else you try to do, such as killing him or yelling at him may result in nags and getting his flock of noobs come after you in every way they can. Never underestimate a noob's outrage, remember stupid people will never respond rationally to thinga and will always make a too big deal out of any action you may decide to take. So be very, very careful. Usually the first option works, but he might respawn later, then go for option 2 or 3.

So remember kids. Just because a player is new, it doesn't mean hes a noob, he's just a bit lost in a new gaming world. Do learn how to recognize your noobs, but don't be rude to newbies presuming they're also noobs. Good luck burning your noob flocks.

May the force be with you.

Curiosity

Stars and stripes, fireworks and rockets. Sometimes you just have to give in and cheers to the USA.

Freaking hell. *Wipes dust from page*

*Looks around posts and datas*

Naaaah, Bs. I couldn't forget this blog. I just didn't seem to manage to kick my own ass and post here.

Let's cut to the chase then, shall we?

----------

7 Minutes of Terror

I have stayed up today until almost 4 AM watching the live broadcast of NASA's landing on mars, and would like to share that experience with whoever of you freaks actually reads this thing.

Ps: I am quite stunned. I seen i have over 8 thousand pageviews! Thanks for that, anonymus citizens of the world. I hope you can keep reading so we can reach OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAND VIEWWWS. How epic would that be, really?

Don't be lazy, watch it. I could explain everything in steps but the video does it just so much better and awesomely.

The Magic Number

Last night around 2 AM i was a rocket science fangirl, hugging a gigantic bowl of popcorn, stuffing my face with it, with earphones and eyes glued to a 10x7" window on my screen stopping my own loud chewign every time someone said importand stuff.

"The capsule has been released!"

And theyd' jump out fo their chairs cheering and so would i - silently of course, or my parents would murder me tenderly. A bunch of men and women in blue shirts, one of them with an awesome mohak, 9 thousand miles from mars. 9 miles. The most complex landing on an outer planet. It was like a sci-fi movie, but better, it was real, and it was history, and I was watching it.

I tought those seven minutes would feel neverending, due to the tenseness of the situation and the despair of at least 100 people sitting in an operation room with obvious needs for diapers. But damn, it was fast. Very fast. The whole thing was successful and fascinating. I wish i could hug all the people in there.

I won't comment on every step of the way, but every new step of the landing, like the video shows above (scroll up and watch it if you haven't, you lazy bastard, I swear it's worth watching), was a moment without breathing until they confirmed quotes such as:

"Parachute released!"

"Rear rockets are on and working!"

"Curiosity has safely touched the ground! We are on it people!"

For every one of those phrases shot through their headset and announcing systems, there were busts of cheers, nervous laughter, screaming and tears. Every second counted there, and i believe the worst feelign for them was the fact they'd celebrate one step was successful, but knew the whole thing wasn't over yet. Even after the landing, it's just the beginning of an approximatedly 2 years of exploring where a lonely robot as big as a car finds her way through the dusty red planet.

Like my friend Javier Darkona said, "I'd be happy if i got to be their janitor even, really". Being a part of that must be a stunning experience. I'll take this opportunity and thank him for being my squealing companion throughout the evening.

"Curiosity"

What a name. What a name. I couldn't think even if i had 3 months free with the only task of coming up with something to baptise a jeep-sized robot shipped to Mars, of a better name. That thing inspired me, and made me hate every local newspaper here for not having Curiosity in their front page this morning.

What else but something that moves humanity and triggers our very core into instigating, investigating, revolutionizing (is that even a word?), than curiosity? This isn't NASA's first robot, at all, of course, but that was the most Inspector Gadget thing they ever done. If you would like to have a brief quick peek on their history, check out Nasa's History Timeline.

Dare Mighty Things

Might is a word very hard to translate to my language at least. The closest thign would be "power", but it just doesn't suit it, does it? Dare mighty things. An invitation from one of the world's 'hax-est' institute of technology, to the world itself.

What really moved me today (In Brazil's time it was 2h20 am, august 6th, when the landing was complete, while in the USA it was 10h20 pm from august 5th) was sharing a feeling i tought was extremely rare these days. This daring, this optimism and hope of knowing how to achieve something and fulfilling it. Nowadays people are used to staying comfortable, passive, letting whatever the world has for them come without actually chasing anything. Seeing Mars Landing today made me see there's still hope, not only for discovery, but for us to stand up and do something, ask questions, dare.

I could almost feel I was in that room with the blue-dressed engineers, technicians, operators, managers, a piece of the most awesome geek cake of the planet. And being able to see them, and, I hope i'm not equivocated when saying this, but being able to understand what they felt, made me cry like a little baby when the first picture of Curiosity's shadow casted on extraterrestrial soil popped on the screen.

Touchdown video

Being the bitch that I am

The whole thing was fantastic, really. However, I might have mentioned I study journalism. so i was pretty wired to recieve some newspapers when i left home for university, and I got extremely pissed of at seeing no papers had even mentioned the landing. One of the biggest papoer of the city had their wrap up at 20h45, which means, obviously, they didn't give a crap about waiting to see the outcome of the landing.

This is sort of what dissapoints me. The fact I knew today when i mentioned the landing to people, most of them would say "Oh thats cool" or "Mars... What??". In the last 24 hours history has been made and mankind got great achievements, and none of those bullocks had it on print paper to tell the world what happened. Later of course in online news and maybe even on TV there were some news about it, but brief, brief things, nothing in the front page, nothing in the first section of the screen or the general section of the show. God damnit. I wanted to have something concrete to pick up and say "I was 21 years old when NASA made one of their hardest landings and i watched the whole thing, look at this paper".

Gladly not everythign is lost for I believe weekly and montly magazines will be talking about this, but i am still quite dissapointed at today's brazilian news.

Soon - The Right Stuff review

There's an amazing book by Tom Wolfe and movie based after it called, in it's original english title, The Right Stuff.

I made a mistake while trying to buy the book and accidentally bought the DVD instead. I had promised myself i woudln't watch it before reading the book but as I oftenly stab myself in the back, curiosity (hint hint nudge nudge), took the best out of me and i rolled the record. I still haven't got the book, mostly cause the movie sort of ruined the mystery for me now, but sometime i'll get it.

The book written by the world aroudn known journalist was made after the testimonials of the astrounauts wives. The trick is, he didn't write about women telling their husbands stories. He told the whole story using that information and did give a great role for the wives, but made a huge work out of it.

I won't say much more, let's leave the actual movie review for another word.

Stay tuned and dare mighty things!

Edit: Last Minute picture!

I just checked Facebook and Curiosity now has sent a Horizon picture!

NASA's caption: What does Mount Sharp look like on Mars? Check it out -- Here are the latest images from the Mars Curiosity rover: http://go.nasa.gov/PzSDX6

Destroying eBay + Lime Crime in a single week

&

Oh my GOD Forgive me my dear sweet lovely blog for abandoning you to rotten and dust in a poor corner of the worldwide web! QQ I had so much diversions... *Hugs header*

Sooo I been making my holidays shopping and giving perhaps one too many xmas gifts to myself. Tonight I encountered a 3 hour battle against Lime Crime's Sale (Oh my god the site still won't load even to copy the link! There's probably thousand of people buying even now) for Carousel Lip Gloss Collection.

Edit Warning!

For those who are still interested in the great Sale, Doe Deere has made an announcement, tonight over 2 million people tried acessing the site, which made it crash!

Therefore Lime Crime will re-make the sale today as soon as the site is fixed and running!

Enjoy it while you can! And special thanks to Lime Crime itself for having such dedication to consumers :) We wouldn't do it any different!

Tonight I was so glad to have checked the Muse of Unicorn's blog, because gurrrrrrl thats one aMAAaaAazing (please picture that word spoke with a hig-pitched drag queen voice) colurs!

Here's my favorite, Kaleidoscope:

I love the theme of the colelction. First, because it's obvious the twisted glass looks of the bottle are based after those old carousels canes where the horses hang from. Second of all, this made Sorry'Go-Round by Poets of the Fall stuck in my head all day.

Thus, I love how, despite Doe calling herself Queen of Unicorns, you can easily twist this theme to the creepy circus-festivals epic side which I love in some games and movies. And to a fourth, I'm obsessed with purple and I have a Journey on the seek fo the perfect purple lipstick. I have a drawer crowded int hem. Perhaps I can post about this ont he weekend.

I got 100% convinced by the pure magic of Kaleidoscope after seeing a swatch made by on youtube. Bless you for doing this, tonight i'll sleep to the signt of the pretty pictures of the glosses.

I bought the full Carousel collection as a self-made christmas gift, and some lipsticks I was waiting restock to buy. 3 lipsticks and 3 eyeshadows. Will make swatches when they arrive.

Here's the other colors:

Well now off with Unicorns and in with Epic eBay Assault !!

Star Wars

No I won't marry you. Stop begging. You're getting pathetic now. PLEASE STAND UP!

Kist kidding xD

Well the past 2 weeks me mom and dad have been re-watching ol'good saga, and that + a barbecue we made last weekend to celebrate vacations with my uni peeps, I went out into the wild eBay search to look for an apron.

Admit it, it's awesome. And its MINE SO GET LOST! xD
Nah, I'm not that mean. Here's the seller store for this epic apron of geekness.

Also I remembered my sympathy for R2D2, poor cute little robot he's so smart and full of tricks but they always manage to screw him up. If i was Yoda i'd wack Luke with the cane every time he hurt R2 somehow.

So I stirred it up with the fact i'm starting driving lessons on holidays and bought a cute Lego keychain of him

<3

And 3rd geek thing It's a secret because I won't show u until it arrives. BAHAHAH.

Last but not least... Medieval Scissors

Months ago there was a girl on Brazil inlove with a pair of scissors, who could not buy them because these n00b sellers out there didn't ship the damn thing to Brazil!

Today I saw an old notepad file with 'WTB' on its title so i looked it up and saw it! When I saw them the first time i messaged every freakin' ebayer with one but nobody shipped here. Til I foudn this guy. Dear Sword & Armory seller, don't put your adress in the pack because I will go up there and steal everything, your stuff is so awesome I would have to buy a 2nd apartment just for all the stuff I wanna buy from you and other stuff.

Particularly inlove with the Dragon's Breath sword he has there, but I can't buy anythign else til.. January xD Except for clothes, I need some new ones badly.

How FREAKING AWESOME IS THAT SWORD? *nosebleeds and daydreams*

It's actually not expensive, at ALL. I think i'll talk to my brother about buying it with him.

I have so much new stuff I don't know where to begin with, but I should go for now. I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope i get my own Yoda wacking my head with a cane if i stop posting here again.

m4y 7h3 1337 b3 w17h y0u!
